Rationale of the Programme

Kenya has a long term strategic development plan under Vision 2030 which recognizes the role of Applied Sciences in economic development. Knowledge in Actuarial science is a key enabler for implementation of the strategies and flagship projects towards fulfilling vision 2030. Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science comes to provide financial solution providers and data analysts who will do the job with the appropriate actuarial foundation. The market is still in need of practical actuarial scientists who can combine statistical programming and ICT skills in solving financial problems.

The programme is intended to provide students with a wide range of knowledge and skills required by industry at undergraduate level in addition to preparing them for professional training in the area of actuarial sciences.

Programme Specific Admission Requirements

Be a holder of KCSE (or equivalent examination) certificate with a minimum aggregate of C+ and a minimum of C+ in both Mathematics and English or Kiswahili, 

OR 

  1. KNEC Diploma in Mathematical Sciences or its equivalent from an Accredited and Recognized Institution, 

OR 

  1. CUK Diploma in Mathematical Sciences or its equivalent from an Accredited and Recognized Institution (Equivalent to KNEC Diploma), 

OR 

  1. The Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE), East African Certificate of Education (EACE) “Ordinary Level” Division II or their equivalents, plus a CUK/KNEC Diploma or their equivalents from an Accredited and Recognized Institution, OR 
  2. The Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE), East African Certificate of Education (EACE) Ordinary Level Division III or their equivalents, plus CUK/KNEC Certificate and CUK/KNEC Diploma or their equivalents from an Accredited and Recognized Institution, 

OR 

  1. The Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) “Advanced Level” with two Principal passes and a subsidiary.
