The Co-operative University College of Kenya students and staff joined the Co-operative movement in Kenya to mark the Co-operatives Environmental day on Saturday 14th June 2014. The event is an annual exercise to clean the environment as a show of solidarity and co-operation among the co-operators. The Co-operative University College of Kenya students and staff joined thousands of Kenyans in the 2014 Mater Heart Run on Saturday 24th may 2014. The Mater Heart Run is an annual event organized by the Mater Hospital to raise funds for the treatment of children with heart complications. CUCK participates in this event annually as part of its CSR activity.
The commission for University Education (CUE) toured the co-operative university college of Kenya ahead of the charter award. The commission was led by the CEO Prof. David Some and Dr. Karimi among other resource persons and officials of the commission. The Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) is collaborating with the Germany Ministry of Agriculture and Food (FMAF) to a project to strengthen governance and value-addition in agricultural Co-operatives in Kenya. Both parties have agreed to work with the Co-operative University College of Kenya in key areas of the project. Kihoro joined the students, parents and teachers of Kihome secondary school in Othaya on Saturday 22nd march for the school’s prize giving day. The chief guest was prof. G. Kihoro of CUCK and the guest of honor was prof. E.N. Gicheru.
On the 9th of March 2014 the Co-operative University of Kenya participated in the Beyond Zero Campaign by taking part in the First Lady’s marathon. The members of staff and students of Co-operative University led by the P.R.O Mr. Francis Mwongela took part in the ten Kilometer race. The marathon was aimed at raising funds for the provision of mobile medical clinics to all the 42 counties in the country. Laughs and smiles graced the faces of the participants and was
