kirima 3.0The Dean School of Business & Economics at The Co-operative University of Kenya Dr. Kennedy Kirima has launched his newest text “Project Management Theory and Practice”. Presiding over the colorful launch ceremony at the University’s Main Campus in Karen on Monday 20th February 2017, the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Lands & Physical Planning Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi lauded Dr. Kirima for his resilience and commitment to scholarly work.

Decrying the derailing status in the academic arena in terms of publishing and quality research, Prof. Kaimenyi challenged University dons to keep tabs high on publishing, “Research and Publishing among our scholars in our Kenyan Universities is wanting as majority are up doing part-timing at the expense of research and publishing”. Said Prof. Kaimenyi  At the launch, Dr. Kirima who is the author of the book said that the will not only benefit students who are taking the project management courses, but also lecturers who want to broaden their scope in their lecturing careers.

Speaking during the launch, Dr. Gladys Mwiti, the University Council Chairperson expressed her hope in growth of The Co-operative University of Kenya noting that the core mandate of any University remains quality research and academic work. Dr. Mwiti noted that the launch of the book and its subject was a timely jab especially for the developing countries with many mega development projects to learn best practices in project planning and management. She urged more lecturers to follow suit and in authoring and publishing widely in their areas of expertise. CUK’s Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Prof. Kamau Ngamau expressed his optimism quality academic research and writing remains the gist to strong academic growth. He challenged members of the academic staff to step up and do more research in their areas of expertise especially the area of co-operatives that remains a key driver of the Kenyan economy.  

The Eight-Chapter book proposes the use of Project management as an approach to achieve functional and strategic goals within the organizations

The author Dr. Kennedy Kirima Nteere also doubles as the dean of the School of Business is widely published and has also authored another text “Entrepreneurship”. He has taught in several Universities in Kenya and has vast knowledge in the field of project management and entrepreneurship as he has lectured in many Universities in both degree and masters programs.
