As the incoming Dean School of Business and Economics (SBE), it is my pleasure to accept the opportunity to serve the University. My promise to you is simple, as a team, we will achieve the objectives outlined in the University’s Strategic Plan 2017-2022 (2018 Edition). Over the years, we have worked as a team and as your Dean, I promise you we will do things with success as our School has always been known for. As your team leader, and being the 3rd Dean of SBE since its inception in 2015, we will live the dream of a bigger and better School.
I sincerely thank the outgoing Dean Dr Kennedy Kirima for the great contribution he has made over the years to bring the School to the level it is today. Fitting into his shoes will require great efforts, but the momentum must be sustained and grown as he has always aspired.
To our students, parents and stakeholders, I assure you of our commitment to putting our students’ interests first and delivering quality education. This remains top on our agenda in the school. The School endeavours to prepare students and professionals who are smart, ethical, adaptable, and socially responsible leaders in the diverse and dynamic business environment by offering market-relevant programmes. As we produce global leaders in business and its associated economies, we look forward to having responsible students in the university in order to realise this dream.
The world has changed with the COVID-19 pandemic; all sectors of human life have been affected in one way or the other. Universities and other educational institutions have not been spared either. In these challenging times of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the School and the entire University is investing in the appropriate technology and infrastructure that will allow our lecturers to offer online classes to our students. This will help us ensure a great learning experience for all our students and enable continuity in the current disruption.

I commend the efforts of the University Management Board, SBE staff, lecturers and students, for their efforts towards the transition to online learning. It is a great demonstration of resilience and adaptability to change. We must be prepared to adjust our lives to the new normal. We can build a resilient and a great school during times of big challenges; our combined effort is key to this success we aspire.

Dear colleagues and students, we hope that the best is yet to come. As we battle to beat COVID-19, I urge all of you to stay safe and follow relevant guidelines and protocols issued by the ministry of health and other world bodies. Further, I invite you to keep yourselves updated on any new developments and communications from the University and the School. Keep your tabs on our website and official social media pages of the university.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Dr. Monica Nderitu
