Ken M. Waweru has been promoted to an Associate Professor of Finance at The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) after fulfilling the requirements set by the Commission for University of Education for the position. He served as a senior lecturer since 2012 in Maasai Mara University, Karatina University and at CUK. Prior to that he served in the position of lecturer at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia and at Mount Kenya University.
Waweru holds a PhD Degree in Finance from Gulu University, an MBA (Finance) degree from Egerton University and a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree from Kenyatta University. He is a Certified Investment and Financial Analyst (CIFA) and a practicing member of the Institute of the Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA). Waweru has researched and published widely in the field of finance and serves on advisory boards of several research publication organizations. He has also served as an external examiner for PhD (Finance) at JKUAT, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology and at USIU.
Waweru has accumulated over 19 years of work experience in education and served at different management and leadership levels including Chair of Department and Dean of School. He is also a member of the Education Committee of ICIFA. Waweru has consulted in the field of finance for various local and international organizations. He has received several recognitions including “CUK Employee of The Year” in 2016 and invited speaker engagements in international conferences. At CUK, he is currently serving as the Director of Academic Quality Assurance.
