THE FIRST CO-OPERATIVE MOVEMENT STAKEHOLDERS’ CONFERENCE
June 13 @ 8:00 am - June 15 @ 1:00 pm
The first-ever co-operative movement stakeholders’ conference brings together representatives of stakeholders across the movement, including the Executive Arms of the National and County Governments, National Assembly and Senate leadership, National Co-operative Organizations (NACOs), unions and primary co-operatives, and development partners.
It is a conference like no other coming at a time when the Government of Kenya is in the process of implementing an economic model where emphasis of economic growth is placed at the grassroots level. Co-operatives and MSMEs have been identified as the most suitable transformative vehicles through which government support and resources are channeled to the bottom of the economic pyramid. This presents an opportunity for the co-operative movement to position itself and aggressively utilize the economic space to be a leading player in the socio-economic turnaround of the Kenyan economy.
Guided by the theme “Co-operative Model for Socio-Economic Transformation”, the conference therefore seeks to unbundle the government’s development agenda with a view to informing stakeholders of the opportunities and responsibilities that arise from implementation of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
