The Co-operative University of Kenya has held a one-day Research, Monitoring and Review Workshop in its main campus Karen. The workshop held on 7th April, 2017 was officially opened by the University’s Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamau Ngamau represented by Prof. Esther Magiri, The University’s Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance, Planning and Administration.

The workshop takes place after establishment of a new division at the University; Division of Co-operative Development, Research and Innovation headed by the newly appointed Prof. Isaac Nyamongo. The workshop themed “Advancing CUK’s Development through Research, Technology and Innovations in Cooperatives by Embracing the Sustainable Development Agenda” had various presentations done.  The workshop remains a fast for CUK’S research dissemination forum since it attracted researchers from other Institutions and also most of the university’s internally funded researches were presented and shall be published in a peer-reviewed Journal

The Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamau Ngamau noted that the CUCK’s response to National Research Fund (NRF) call for proposals under different categories was commendable. He marked, “I am happy to report to you that so far two proposals from CUK were shortlisted and two more are in waiting for response from NRF.”

He challenged the CUK staff members to make use of research grants at the university, “So far, we have competitively awarded research grants to CUK researchers/staff through the internal calls 1st, 2nd and currently the 3rd call proposals which is underway.”

The various for the workshop included, Co-operative Development & Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Management and Sustainable Development, Entrepreneurship, Business and Innovations.
