Rationale

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics and Data Science is founded on providing high quality and relevant academic and industry skills, required in both the co-operative and general business sector, by linking education to industry and societal needs through imparting analytical skills necessary to generate information from the huge amounts of data generated by the co-operative sector and other industry players.

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics and Data Science is instrumental in bridging this skills gap by producing graduates who are capable of making a great impact in the job market, both local and international as well as preparing them for a career in research in data science, towards supporting Kenya’s Vision 2030 economic pillar as well as Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 (eight) of a sustainable economic growth.

Programme Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates wishing to study BSc. Applied Statistics and Data Science programme

must satisfy at least one of the following minimum requirements for admission:

  1. Be a holder of KCSE (or equivalent examination) certificate with a minimum  aggregate of C+ and a  minimum of C+ in both Mathematics and English or Kiswahili,

OR

  1. KNEC Diploma in Applied Statistics and Data Science /Information Technology /Business Information Technology or its equivalent from an Accredited and Recognized Institution, 

OR

  1. CUK Diploma in Applied Statistics and Data Science /Information Technology /Business Information Technology /Applied Statistics (Equivalent to KNEC Diploma).

OR

  1. The Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE), East African Certificate of Education (EACE) “Ordinary Level” Division II or their equivalents, plus a CUK/KNEC Diploma or their equivalents from an Accredited and Recognized Institution,

OR

  1. The Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE), East African Certificate of Education (EACE) Ordinary Level  Division III or their equivalents, plus CUK/KNEC Certificate and CUK/KNEC Diploma or their equivalents from an Accredited and Recognized Institution,

OR

  1. The Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE)” Advanced Level” with two Principal passes and a subsidiary.
