Part II – RequirementsRationale of the Programme Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) merges Computing skills with business knowledge hence provides capability to analyze, design and build sophisticated business information systems and use state-of-the-art methodologies, tools, hardware and software to meet the growing needs of today’s business world by delivering continuously emerging trends of information technology as is required from time to time by the industry. The programme ensures an understanding of business organization and relevant computer applications through the course modules of computer science, software engineering, databases, networking, business related units, theory and programming. The program also enhances students’ communication, research, cognitive, managerial and interpersonal skills. BBIT is a course that brings together two key aspects of computer training, that is, the link between Computer Science and the business environment. It is structured with a core which provides an extensive education in contemporary themes in Information Systems (IS) education, and which equips students with the requisite business knowledge and skills for analytical and technical areas.
Candidates wishing to study for BBIT must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements for admission. Be a holder of KCSE (or equivalent examination) certificate with a Minimum aggregate of C+ and a minimum of C in both Mathematics and English or Kiswahili. OR Be a holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE, OR Be a holder of a KNEC Diploma or its Equivalent in Information Technology/Business Information Technology/ Information Systems with a credit pass. |
